Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic

Full-Time | $28.00–$40.00 per hour | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Join Our Fleet Maintenance Team

Sturgeon Transport is looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team in Brandy Station, VA.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on mechanic who takes pride in quality work and wants to play an important role in keeping our trucks and trailers safe, reliable and ready for the road .

If you have experience working on Class 6–8 trucks, diesel equipment, air brake systems or commercial trailers, we’d like to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose, repair and maintain Class 6–8 heavy-duty trucks and trailers

• Perform maintenance and repairs on Paccar trucks and Great Dane flatbed trailers

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment

• Inspect and repair air brake systems and components

• Perform tire mounting, dismounting and related tire service

• Identify correct parts and verify part numbers using computer systems

• Complete accurate repair orders, maintenance records and required paperwork

• Troubleshoot and repair trucks, trailers and other fleet equipment

• Work closely with shop management and other team members to complete repairs efficiently

• Help keep the fleet operating safely and minimize equipment downtime

What We’re Looking For

• Heavy-duty truck, diesel or commercial fleet repair experience preferred

• Experience working on Class 6–8 trucks strongly preferred

• Experience with diesel engines, air brakes, trailers and related systems

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

• Ability to work independently and efficiently

• Reliable, dependable and committed to quality workmanship

• Must have your own basic hand tools

• Valid driver’s license required

• CDL is a plus

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on mechanic position. You should be comfortable:

• Standing and walking throughout the workday

• Squatting, kneeling, bending and working in different positions

• Lifting and moving heavy parts and equipment

• Performing physically demanding repair and maintenance work
